Mac and Cheese is a classic American recipe. Loaded with cheese-y goodness, this dish is perfect for kids and a favourite among adults for a warm, fuzzy wintery meal! As the name suggests, this recipe combines Macaroni pasta and different kinds of cheese, most essential being Cheddar and Parmesan; here I have used Mozzarella as well for the gooey texture. Extremely popular and easy to make, try this recipe for a classic and basic party starter or when you are at your indulgent self! Tell me how it goes!
250g Macaroni pasta
1 tsp garlic powder
2 tbsp refined flour
4 cups milk
1/2 tsp white pepper powder
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
Salt to taste
100g Cheddar cheese, grated
100g Mozzarella cheese, grated
50g Parmesan cheese, grated
1 cup ground bread crumbs
1/2 tsp dried mixed herbs
Chopped parsley for garnish
Step 1: Boil water in a pan and add about 2 tbsp salt. Add the Macaroni pasta. Cook till just done. Drain and set aside.
Step 2: In a pan, heat the butter. Add garlic powder, refined flour, and milk. Stir well so clumps are not formed.
Step 3: Add white pepper powder, red chilli powder, and 1/4 tsp salt to taste. Mix well. Remove from heat.
Step 4: Add Cheddar cheese, Mozzarella cheese, and Parmesan cheese. Mix well.
Step 5: Add the cooked pasta from Step 1. Mix well. Check and adjust seasoning.
Step 6: In a baking dish, grease with butter at the bottom. Pour in the pasta mixture from Step 5. Layer with bread crumbs and dried mixed herbs.
Step 7: Layer the bottom of a pressure cooker with salt. Place a grill stand on it. Now put the pasta dish on the grill stand. Remove the rubber lining of the cooker, close the lid and bake for about 15 minutes.
Step 8: Garnish with chopped parsley and serve hot!
